I have to put this on here quick after having THE best experience at Bunky's in Madison on Saturday.

I stopped in at The Silly Yak for their GF baking day to pick up some bread and a pizza and decided to head to Bunky's (the restaurant in Madison they team up with for pizzas) Bunky's is an Italian-American place off of Monona Dr (it turns into Atwood which is where Bunky's is located)

They typically do not start serving pizza until after 5pm, it was 2pm and I was heading back to Milwaukee so I decided to just call and see if I could get a pizza anyway. I spoke with the owner and she said they could fire up the oven early for me! This was my first time having pizza actually cooked at a restaurant. (big deal for me because pizza is THE one thing I miss the most, I know there are substitutes, but it's not the same)

When I arrived we chatted while waiting for the pizza and she was so excited about my enthusiasm for the pizza that she bought me a dessert... cheesecake with a chocolate bottom and toffee and caramel on top, seemed to good to be true. It was d-lish!

The pizza was AMAZING!!! I burned my tongue and got pizza sauce on my pants on the way home... but totally worth it! It was even good cold. Made my day.

They also cater, good to keep in mind for the future!

Stop in and visit, they even sell some gluten free items, like ice cream cones and pasta!

Only wish we had one in Milwaukee!

Thanks for the review!

Bunky's is on my list of places to try. Perhaps when we make a Trader Joe's run...

Yeah, I want to to go there too - I've had their lasagne from the Silly's freezer, but I'm sure fresh is better. Smile

I've eaten at Bunky's twice -once pizza once more Mediterrean food. It's great food in a funky atmosphere and the prices are right. GF beer and GF garlic bread!

The owner is a sweatheart. First time there she gave me a piece of their GF cheesecake to try. She is really pushing the envelope on how to make her menu as GF as possible on an as needed basis.

I can't enough good things about the place. I need to make a road trip.

Hey Sportsfan and fellow WI-ite!

Welcome to the board. Thanks for the link. Hopefully Bunky's will get their GF page up soon.

Have you eaten there often? If so, what are your faves?

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I'm a life-long cheesehead, Packer & Badger fan, and I am a newbie to gf.

I've lived and worked in the Madison area for the past decade - and I had never heard of the restaurant (until I saw it listed on here).

So I excitedly did an internet search to find where it was located - and saw the link - so I thought I'd post it. When I go, I'll give you a report.
